Anticipating the summer season in pig farming
The arrival of summer is the right time to carry out a number of specific controls in the breeding, such as checking that the ventilation and sensors are working properly. Misting systems can be tested to anticipate any damaging failures during heat waves.
Particular attention must be paid to the maternity ward. As the lactating sow is particularly sensitive to heat stress, check the positioning of heating lamps: they should be kept away from the sow’s head or even removed.
Don’t forget the smartphone application Thermo®Tool that helps you anticipate the first days of a heat peak.
